Read this article on bad food.

What do you think?

  1. First Impression: I think it's a very nice-sounding way of putting a tax on groceries. Some sodas have benefits. Ginger ale settles your stomach and soothes your throat. And experts are always arguing about whether a food is healthy or not, what the next best diet is. Carbs are bad, then red meat is bad, then too much fruit is bad, etc. etc. If we started imposing a tax on foods with a high sugar content, then wouldn't fruit have to be taxed? Applesauce? Would sugar itself have an imposed tax?

I also question the effect on farmers who grow primarily corn and soybeans...

    Interesting article though.

I think if Americans worked more at portion control, that would be a step in the right direction. :-) That's basically all I did this summer, and I lost 12 pounds or so.
